Birds of Sri Lanka

February 13 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Poster for February Talk

The February monthly scheduled talk (normally on the 2nd Thursday of the month) will be given by Niall Hatch who is “Head of communications and development” at Birdwatch Ireland and is well known for his appearances on national television, radio (Mooney Goes Wild), and the “In your Nature” podcast.

Niall travels to various parts of the world on birding adventures, and this talk showcases the extraordinary bird life in Sri Lanka.

Sri Lanka is a tropical island situated close to the southern tip of India. The bird life of Sri Lanka is very rich for its size and more than 500 species have been recorded, and 35 species are confirmed as endemic (found only in a single defined geographic location). In addition to the many resident birds, a considerable number of migratory species winter in the country to escape their northern breeding grounds.
